Esse

BFA Thesis | University of Michigan | 2019

Esse is a fully flat-pack bedroom set that includes a bed, wardrobe, and desk. Esse was fabricated on a CNC machine, held together with 3D printed
joinery, and finished by hand. The set collapses into a 39“x 39” x 4” case which makes it possible to carry on a plane, train, or in a car.

Esse was designed in response to the national shift in values and personal displacement of emerging adults following the burst of the housing bubble in 2007.

Esse is meant to move with the user to establish a sense of place & belonging, wherever they may live.
